The use of the word “hematoxylin” to describe a staining solution is somewhat misleading but continues to be used as a term of convenience. WebBleach in 5% sodium thiosulfate, 3–5 min. 6. Place sections in 0.25% potassium permanganate for 5 min. 7. Bleach in 0.25% oxalic acid for 2–5 min. 8. Wash in tap water and then in distilled water. 9. Return sections to 95% alcohol and stain by Steart's method above, from step 2.
