WebGotland, a Swedish island in the Baltic Sea, mostly relies on wind power for its electricity as well as a single connection to the mainland. The island lies 200km south of Stockholm and is home to over 57,000 people. During the last 15 years the development of wind power on Gotland has been hugely successful. WebGotland is the Energy Pilot of Sweden. As such we have the task of accelerating the transition into a renewable energy system on the island, faster than the national climate goals of Sweden. Thereby the entire island today is a testbed.
